Artists At Work: Boulder High Art Car
The Boulder High Art Car project was conceived of and directed by Leah Brenner Clack, founder & director of Street Wise Arts during the 2019-2020 school year. National Art Honor Society students at BHS, mentored by artist Mark Moffett, produced the car to address the issue of rain forest degradation resulting from climate change and human activity.
The project was funded by Open Studios with the assistance of a grant from the REA Foundation and with in-kind support including the donation of a used Prius from Boulder Hybrids and materials from Art Parts Creative Re-Use Center. For the past year, the car has served as a mobile sculpture with a message and has appeared at various events throughout Boulder. The 4 people lined up at Boulder Hybrids, from left to right: Artist Mark Moffitt, project mentor; Paul Guzyk, owner of Boulder Hybrids; Mary Horrocks, executive director of Open Studios; Leah Brenner Clack, founder & director of Street Wise Arts.
